I cannot tell you how many times I have been asked about Airbrush and what is it?
Basically is it this. Airbrush formula can be made of different mediums like water or silicone. The formula is ultra fine, almost thinner than water if that makes any sense. A few drops go a long way in to an airbrush gun. Your airbrush gun is connected to an air compressor that enables your ultra light weight foundation to be sprayed on to the skin in a very fine mist to the skin. It can be layered on the skin lightly and continuing to build more over problem areas if needed with out a heavy feeling.
There are a multitude of companies out there selling compressors and airbrush foundations. My company of choice for airbrush makeup is Temptu.
The reason I do love Temptu for Airbrush is that the formula is incredible. It is weightless and does not make the skin have any negative reactions. Perfect for those with problem areas or redness. It will cover without overpowering the skin in heavy foundation.
It is completely up to each individual whether they want to try Airbrush Foundation or Traditional Foundation. I have used both kinds of Foundations for a variety of clients. If you are going to use traditional foundation I do recommend one that is buildable. Being a buildable foundation means that it is not a heavy foundation. You can apply light layers and add more where you need it. Another important tip is to make sure your foundation is High Definition Quality. This means the foundations is free of SPF. SPF is not your friends if you are being photographed. SPF causes flashback in photos which makes the face appear lighter than the rest of you.
If I am using Traditional Foundation on a client, I have 2 favourites that remain in my kit. Makeup Forever HD Foundation and Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion. The formulas are so beautiful on the skin and they both blend out seamlessly.
Foundations can be overwhelming. The only way to find what works for your skin is to try them on your skin. Many great companies are continuously improving products which is great. As a makeup I am constantly reading and evolving what products I use and how to prefect techniques in doing so.
There are so many wonderful products out there. Whether you decide to go Airbrush or Traditional Foundation, as long as you are using quality products and apply them correctly you can achieve a beautiful finish that will last throughout the day.
