The Master Class with Mario Dedivanovic. Wow. This experience changed the way I view makeup. He is truly a gifted and talented artist.
Saturday July 8, 2017. Location Toronto, Ontario. Little did I know what to expect. I was a bit nervous, anxious and excited at seeing one of the world’s most talented makeup artists.
How this came to be? Well, one late night in April posted on Instagram my husband noticed something. Immediately freaked out and said “did you see this?” I said “what?” Answer, “Mario is coming to Toronto!” I, being me, laughed and said how do you know who he is. Him being who he is said I know these things now! I of course wanted to go. I was so back and forth. Should I go? In the background I am hearing you have to go! This is a once in a lifetime class and he is so close!
I pulled out my Mac Book, registered and pressed the confirm button. Little did I know that day in April, I had made one of the best decisions of my makeup career.
My journey began July 7 2017, packed all my stuff for the weekend. Lets be honest, it was probably enough for a week. We headed down the road for Toronto. Keep in mind I am travelling with my husband who is giving me ALL the Makeup By Mario updates. Hey! He’s in town! Look! It was starting to get real!
Making our way there, doesn’t the car lose power outside of Woodstock. How can this be happening! This car is not old enough for this! I was ready to have a stroke! Great. Two hour delay at the dealer but THANK GOD they fit us in. The computer in the car was cleared and back on the road. Check in to the hotel, unpack our stuff and try to get some sleep. Key word, TRY!
July 8, 2017, 6:30am. Time to get up and get this day rolling. Hair done, makeup on (using the Mario Master Palette ABH) and dressed! Ok, stress is setting in. OMG! I am going to see Mario!!!!! Uber come on! Rich being supportive as always comes with me to stand in line.
We pull up at the Isabel Bader Theatre. It is 10:15am. Holy line already. Keep in mind that the doors for General Admission do not open until 11am. Standing in line, I chat with some nice ladies with their makeup on point of course and are you kidding me!!!!! Mario is right there. He took the time to come outside and say hello to all of us in line!
We find our way inside, get our wrist bands and sit in the lecture theatre. He comes on stage at 12pm. I instantly smile of course and I am soooooooooo excited you have no idea. Well you might if you were there too. Mario is absolutely handsome and well spoken. Seriously I could have sat there all day. We started at noon and finished shortly after 4pm. The entire time watching the master at work. Wow. He is incredible. The super part was a person would ask him a question and he would answer while demonstrating his beautiful makeup on the gorgeous local Toronto model.
Now, out of respect for Mario, he had asked that we respect his class and not post all about what he said. Let’s face it, we wont be able to quote exactly what he said and do not want to say something he didn’t say. If you ever have opportunity to go to The Master Class, GO!
I will tell you that this was one of the best experiences of my life. I have loved makeup my entire life. I love to learn and you will never know everything there is to know. Mario has worked extremely hard for many years to get to where he is today. My favourite part aside from him being knowledgeable, kind and funny, is that he is truly truly a genuine person. He cares about others and for that I have tremendous respect for him and his work. I appreciate that he took the time to have a Master Class in Toronto. Mario chooses to take the time to put together a stellar class and share his knowledge and expertise. Something he doesn’t have to do but I am sure grateful he did!
Mario Dedivanovic thank you. I sincerely enjoyed your teaching and I will never forget the experience of learning from one of the best. Meeting you will be forever in my memory bank as absolutely wonderful. I cannot wait to come to another class in the future. I am still giddy writing this!
Thank you Mario.
